Composting pigs – An example of sustainability

Meet our composting pigs!

Did you know that pigs can help with sustainability by composting? Co-owners the Allen family have been ranching in Northern BC for generations. One of the animals they raise are pigs. Any scraps and leftovers from our kitchen are repurposed to feed our pigs (well, there’s actually not a whole lot of leftovers because guests happily devour our culinary team’s creations!).

Pig manure is rich in nutrients that are great for fertilizing plants. In the warmer months, we maintain an extensive garden where we grow a variety of herbs and vegetables that our chefs incorporate into their menus (you can’t get much fresher than that!). We are big on sustainability and use the composting from the pigs to fertilize our garden. It’s a win-win-win situation for the pigs, the environment and our guests!
